Should I opt for Junior College or an International curriculum like IBDP / A Level in grade 11

As a parent, one of the most difficult decisions they need to take is after Grade 10 ‘What stream/board the child should take admitted in? What is the class XI admission process? Initially, it was not confusing as there was only Junior college consisting of three streams(Commerce, Science and Arts), but now we have a number of choices. The students could take up ISC, IBDP or A Level that is available apart from Junior college, hence a parent getting confused is natural. Choosing the right education is a crucial step for the child’s future and career. This blog will give you information on the different options and online admission for class 11. Choosing the best schools in Mumbai after Grade 11 should be child-focused as far as possible as every child is a unique blend of his/her abilities, interests,and needs.

After Grade 10, the student can choose the below following options for class XI admission

International Curricula:
The two globally benchmarked boards are A-Levels, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). The curricula focus on applicative and innovative pedagogy.

AS & A Level- Cambridge International A-Level is an advanced-level two-year course, after completion of secondary schooling or grade 10. Since Cambridge International offers three examination series, October/November or May/June, or Feb/March (only for India), students also have the flexibility to fast-track certain courses.

IBDP (International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme) – The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is a robust pre-university course that encourages students to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners having excellent breadth and depth of knowledge.

National Curricula

Indian School Certificate (ISC) - Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations for Class 12 conducts the Indian School Certificate (ISC) is an examination. ISC lay a lot of importance on language and literature which would help to pursue their career in the field of marketing, accounting, management, etc. The curriculum is designed in such a way that the students can improve their oral and writing skills, along with in-depth learning of various concepts.

Junior College –

A Junior college is a post-secondary educational institution that is attended by the students before going off for a degree program at a three-year university. The student can choose between different courses/ streams like Science, Commerce, Arts etc.

There are various combinations of subjects that students can take up after the 10th and can apply for class XI admission

Students who are sure and wish to take up careers in science-related fields like engineering,medicine, research etc must take up science stream and opt for three subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Maths (PCM). Students who wish to take up careers like medicalofficer, doctor, and scientist Data analysts, statisticians need to take up Physics, Chemistry and Biology commonly known as PCB and PCMB which includes these four subjects are commonly taken up science courses after 10th.

There is no best curriculum or board after Grade 10 to take class XI admission, the students are advised to choose the board as per their interest level, career goal, etc.
